	<strong><a name="vitem i"></a><br />
	<u>Temporary Visa I</u></strong>
	<p>
		<strong><a name="VT I WHO IS ELIGIBLE"></a>Who is eligible:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			scientists, professors or researchers, participating in scientific or technological studies, associated with Brazilian institutions of academic studies or research and development, for a maximum stay of two years, without payment from a Brazilian source or to perform a &quot;pro-labore&quot; work within a ninety days period;</li>
		<li>
			exchange students;</li>
		<li>
			students for practical course as part of professional or university studies;</li>
		<li>
			trainees in the operation or maintenance of equipments or machines made in Brazil;</li>
		<li>
			technicians, volunteers, specialists, scientists, researchers who will work for government, private or non-governmental institutions, under an international cooperation agreement;</li>
		<li>
			amateur athletes under 21 years of age, for intensive practice;</li>
		<li>
			those who are traveling for medical treatment.</li>
		<li>
			volunteers and social workers without employment contract and payment, engaging in community work or rendering service to a religious institution;</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		In order to qualify for a cultural visa, the applicant must not receive payment from a Brazilian source except in the case of scientists, professors or researchers in a &quot;pro-labore&quot; work within a ninety days period. A traveling expense allowance can be accepted.</p>
	<p>
		<br />
		<strong><a name="VT I GENERAL REQUIREMENTS"></a>General Requirements:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			One <a href="https://scedv.serpro.gov.br" target="_blank">Visa Application Form</a> per applicant, completely filled out online, dated and signed by the passport holder or his/her parents/guardians. (You will need to print only the receipt page with the bar code: sign it and glue the picture). Parents must sign for minors under 18 years old;</li>
		<li>
			Your passport, valid for at least 6 months, with at least one&nbsp;blank&nbsp;visa page available;</li>
		<li>
			a copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger&#39;s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates;</li>
		<li>
			the original and a copy of the US Alien Resident Card for foreign residents in the US and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to the US or to another country;</li>
		<li>
			one recent 2&quot; x 2&quot; passport-type photo, front view, white background. Snapshots or computer pictures are not accepted;</li>
		<li>
			FBI clearance issued within the last 3 months, certifying absence of criminal record, legalized by the Consulate. US$20.00 fee will be charged (please note that it may take up to 12 weeks for the FBI to issue the clearance);</li>
		<li>
			proof of financial capability during stay in Brazil (i.e. certified copy of bank or credit card statement, copy of savings certificate, letter from the employer or institution that granted a scholarship, etc). The Consulate will then legalize the signature of the notary public. US$20.00 fee will be charged;</li>
		<li>
			affidavit from the sponsoring Brazilian company or institution containing specific information on the activity to be performed, location and duration of the engagement. The letter must be legalized by a notary public in Brazil;</li>
		<li>
			proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e., letter from the employer/educational institution notarized, utility bill or voter&#39;s registration).</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		<strong><a name="VT I Additional Requirements"></a>Additional Requirements:</strong><br />
		<br />
		a) Minors under 18 years of age:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			original birth certificate;</li>
		<li>
			a notarized letter of consent signed by both parents. The Consulate will legalize the signature of the notary public. A fee of 20.00 will be charged.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		b) Exchange students:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			copy of the act of establishment of the Brazilian institution;</li>
		<li>
			copy of the &quot;Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Jur&iacute;dicas -CNPJ&quot;;</li>
		<li>
			a letter from the Brazilian institution stating the discipline, location, and duration of studies, the full address of the hosting institution, and supplying the names of its directors;</li>
		<li>
			a letter from school, college or university in Brazil confirming the enrollment or acceptance of the student and informing time length of studies.</li>
		<li>
			a notary public in Brazil must legalize all documents.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		c) Members of social and professional assistance missions:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			Authorization, legalized by a notary public in Brazil, of the Brazilian National or Regional Professional Council related to the services that will be rendered.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		d) Students enrolling in technical courses:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			copy of the contract or agreement between the student and the Brazilian institution, notarized in Brazil. The institution must be an international cooperation organization, a governmental institution in Brazil or a regularly registered student interchange institution;</li>
		<li>
			affidavit of the institution which granted the scholarship, dully notarized in Brazil or in the United States. In this case, the Consulate will legalize the signature of the notary public. U$20.00 fee will be charged.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		e) Athletes</p>
	<p style="margin-left: 40px">
		copy of the agreement between the athlete&rsquo;s team/club and the Brazilian institution where the training will take place. The agreement, which can be up to twelve months, must state the availability of:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			a) place for training,</li>
		<li>
			b) room and board, as well as any additional living expenses. Brazilian documents must be notarized in Brazil. American documents must be certified by a notary public and legalized by the Consulate. U$20.00 fee will be charged;</li>
	</ul>
	<p style="margin-left: 40px">
		original birth certificate.</p>
	<p>
		<br />
		f) Trainees on the operation or maintenance of equipment or machines made in Brazil:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			affidavit of the Brazilian company with specific information on the activities to be performed, location and duration, and declaring that the trainee will not receive any payment from a Brazilian source.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		g) Technicians, volunteers, specialists, scientists, researchers who will work for government, private or non-governmental institutions, under an international cooperation agreement:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			copy of both the original cooperation agreement and the memorandum of understanding, additional protocol or equivalent, in which the applicant is named;</li>
		<li>
			educational or professional documents stating the professional qualifications of the applicant;</li>
		<li>
			affidavit from the applicant&#39;s employer assuming full responsibility for his/her return and that of his/her family at end of stay or at any time following the termination of the agreement.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		All Brazilian documents must be notarized in Brazil. American documents must be certified by a notary public and legalized by the Consulate. U$20.00 fee will be charged.</p>
	<p>
		<br />
		<br />
		h) Applicants traveling for medical treatment:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			affidavit by the patient&#39;s medical doctor recommending the treatment notarized by a notary public and legalized by the Consulate. U$20.00 fee will be charged;</li>
	</ul>
	<ul>
		<li>
			presentation of one of the following documents:</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			proof of financial capability for the treatment and maintenance during stay in Brazil;</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			copy of a Brazilian or international health insurance valid for the treatment in Brazil.</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			All Brazilian documents must be notarized in Brazil. American documents must be certified by a notary public and legalized by the Consulate. U$20.00 will be charged.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		i) Volunteers and social workers:</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			affidavit from the Brazilian institution, legalized by a notary public in Brazil, with:</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			resume that demonstrates previous work experience or matching degree for the field in which you are requiring the visa;</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			invitation to render service as a volunteer;</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			specific information on the activity to be performed, location and duration of the engagement;</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 40px">
			declaration that:</li>
	</ul>
	<p style="margin-left: 80px">
		1) the institution in Brazil assumes full responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant, and<br />
		2) his/her return on expiration of length of stay or<br />
		3) at any time following the termination of the mission and<br />
		4) that the applicant will not be paid by any source in Brazil.</p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			Brazilian or international health insurance valid in Brazil. If the original is presented, a copy will be made and legalized at the Consulate for a US$5.00 fee. A copy that is brought by the applicant must be notarized by a notary public;</li>
	</ul>
	<ul>
		<li>
			copy of the following documents of the institution in Brazil, duly notarized:</li>
	</ul>
	<ul style="margin-left: 40px">
		<li>
			bylaws of the institution (&ldquo;estatuto social&rdquo;);</li>
		<li>
			act in which the institution&rsquo;s directors were nominated;</li>
		<li>
			proof of inscription in the national or local &ldquo;Conselho de Assist&ecirc;ncia Social&rdquo;;</li>
		<li>
			proof that the institution is still established;</li>
		<li>
			act of indication of the applicant to the intended position, with powers of representation, registered at the Brazilian proper governmental institution.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		<strong>Important:</strong></p>
	<ul style="margin-left: 40px">
		<li>
			this Consulate must legalize all documents after duly notarized. Documents issued in Brazil must be notarized in Brazil.</li>
		<li>
			the Consulate may request additional information/documentation, as deemed necessary.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		<strong>Attention:</strong> At the time of registration at the Federal Police in Brazil, volunteers or social workers must present either the original Birth Certificate or a copy, duly legalized by the Consulate. US$20.00 will be charged for the legalization.</p>
	<p>
		In all cases, the Consulate may request additional information or documentation, as deemed necessary.</p>
	<p>
		&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		<strong><a name="VT I Consular fees"></a>Consular Fees:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			US$ 60.00 for the visa. Citizens of Belgium, Italy, Norway and Sweden are exempted from the visa fee;</li>
		<li>
			additionally, a processing fee of US$ 190.00 will be charged to all U.S. passport holders in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the U.S.;</li>
		<li>
			an additional absent fee of US$20.00 will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant;</li>
		<li>
			the legalization fees indicated in all cases above are additional to the visa fee, the absent fee and the processing fee.</li>
		<li>
			No cash, personal or company checks are accepted, only US POSTAL SERVICE MONEY ORDER, made out to the Consulate General of Brazil.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<br />
		<br />
		<strong><a name="VT I Special Note"></a>Special Note:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			visas are good for multiple entries;</li>
		<li>
			if stay exceeds 90 days, registration with the Federal Police within 30 days of first arrival in Brazil is mandatory.</li>
		<li>
			check vaccination for information about yellow fever and anti-polio shots;</li>
		<li>
			the legalization of documents issued in the United States must be done by a Notary Public within the jurisdiction of the Consulate. If the Notary Public is not registered at the Consulate, a Specimen of the Notary Public&rsquo;s signature and stamps must be brought by applicant to the Consulate. Alternatively, the applicant may verify the Notary&#39;s signature with the County Clerk.</li>

		<a name="VT III Procedures"></a><strong>Procedures:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			the sponsor or promoter of the event must submit application to the Ministry of Labor in Brazil at the following address:</li>

			FBI clearance issued within the last 3 months, certifying absence of criminal record, legalized by the Consulate. US$20.00 fee will be charged;</li>
		<li>
			proof of financial capability during stay in Brazil (i.e., copy of bank or credit card statement, copy of savings certificate, letter from the employer, etc.) or affidavit from organization sponsoring the scholarship stating that it is responsible for the student. The signature(s) must be certified by a notary public.</li>
		<li>
			proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e., letter from the employer/educational institution notarized, copy of utility bill or voter&#39;s registration.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		The Consulate may request additional information or documentation, as deemed necessary.<br />

		<strong><a name="VT IV CONSULAR FEES"></a>Consular Fees:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			US$ 40.00 for the visa;</li>
		<li>
			additionally,&nbsp;a processing fee of US$ 160.00 will be charged to all U.S. passport holders in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the U.S.;</li>
		<li>
			an additional absent fee of US$ 20.00 will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant;</li>
		<li>
			<strong>No cash, personal or company checks are accepted, only US POSTAL SERVICE MONEY ORDER, made out to the Consulate General of Brazil.</strong></li>

		<a name="VT IV SPECIAL NOTE"></a><strong>Special Note:</strong></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			the student visa will be issued for a maximum of one year and is good for multiple entries;</li>
		<li>
			whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, visitors must register with the Federal Police, within 30 days from first arrival in Brazil.</li>
		<li>
			the visa may be extended in Brazil by the Federal Police (Departamento de Pol&iacute;cia Mar&iacute;tima, Aeroportu&aacute;ria e de Fronteiras-DPMAF), if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (special requirements apply), according to the duration of the study and documentation presented to local authority;</li>
		<li>
			the legalization of documents issued in the United States must be done by a Notary Public of the area of <a href="http://novayork.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/jurisdiction.xml">jurisdiction</a> of the Consulate.</li>
	</ul>
	<ul>
		<li>
			students who plan to visit Brazil for post grad or specialization in medical areas must also present (a) proof that the applicant has finished medical school, legalized by a Brazilian Consulate, and (b) document signed by those responsible for the course in Brazil stating that (i) the applicant will not practice medicine or medical actions in Brazil, except those required for the applicant&#39;s training, which must be practiced only in the institution to which the visitor is attached, (ii) that the preceptor is responsible for the visitor before the Regional Medical Council as per Art. 7, caput c/c &sect;5&ordm; of Resolution no. 1832/2008 of the Federal Medical Council, (iii) that the preceptor is responsible for officially notifying the Regional Medical Council of the visitor&#39;s presence as per Art. 7 of said Resolution.</li>

Typical activities include jobs contracted with a Brazilian company or individual, technical jobs and/or training performed at an affiliate company in Brazil, franchise operation activities, evaluation and/or repair of equipment installed in Brazil or sold to a Brazilian client, etc.;</li>
		<li>
			students in professional training, working without a contract, after completion of a technical school or university course;</li>
		<li>
			medical residents or interns;</li>
		<li>
			language teachers, including trainees;</li>
		<li>
			ship crewmembers working on foreign fishing vessels rented by Brazilian companies.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		&nbsp;</p>
	<p>
		<strong><a name="VT V REQUIREMENTS"></a>Requirements:</strong></p>
	<p>
		<span style="font-size: 1em;"><strong>A)</strong>&nbsp;As of May 9, 2013, the application for a Temporary Visa V can be submitted directly to the Consulate if the traveler meets all of the following conditions:</span></p>
	<ul>
		<li>
			the traveler does not have an employment contract with a Brazilian company;</li>
		<li>
			the purpose of the trip is the transfer of technology or the provision of technical assistance, due to a contract or cooperation agreement signed between a foreign legal person and a Brazilian legal person; and</li>
		<li>
			the traveler&rsquo;s stay in Brazil will not exceed 90 days.</li>
	</ul>
	<p>
		<span style="font-size: 1em;">In this case, the following documents must be submitted to the Consulate:</span></p>

			a copy of the US Alien Resident Card for foreign residents and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to the US or to another country;</li>
		<li>
			one recent 2&quot; x 2&quot; passport-type photo, front view, white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;</li>

			<span style="font-size: 1em;">invitation letter from the Brazilian company confirming that the specific traveler is being called to provide the specified service in Brazil; and</span></li>

			proof of tax ID registration (<a href="http://www.receita.fazenda.gov.br/pessoajuridica/cnpj/cnpjreva/cnpjreva_solicitacao.asp" target="_blank">CNPJ</a>) of the Brazilian company with the Federal Revenue Service in Brazil.</li>

		Please note that a Temporary Visa V issued under these conditions cannot be extended in Brazil and cannot be granted to the same traveler more than once every 180 days.</p>

			notarized letter from the Church in the United States attesting eligibility of the applicant, stating length of stay, place and type of work that will be performed in Brazil. The Consulate must legalize the signature of the notary public. US$20.00 will be charged.</li>

			FBI clearance issued within the last 3 months, certifying absence of criminal record, legalized by the Consulate. A US$ 20.00 fee will be charged (please note that it may take up to 12 weeks for the FBI to issue the clearance);</li>

			proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e., letter from the employer/educational institution, notarized copy of the utility bill or voter&#39;s registration), legalized by the Consulate. A US$ 20.00 fee will be charged;</li>
		<li style="margin-left: 80px">
			affidavit of the payment institution on means of support, declaring amount of the month income and resource, certified by a notary public and legalized by the Consulate. A US$ 20.00 will be charged. Applicants must provide official documentation stating a minimum pension of R$ 6,000.00, equivalent to US$ 3,600.00 (three thousand six hundred dollars) a month per person plus 2 (two) dependents for their life term, as well as bank statement verifying service for regular transfers to Brazil. An additional R$ 2.000,00, equivalent to US$ 1,200.00 in the monthly pension will be necessary for each dependent in case the applicant has more than two dependents. (Exchange rate: 1 Real = 1.66 US Dollar)</li>

			In all cases, the Consulate may request additional information or documentation, as deemed necessary.</li>

		<strong>Consular Fees:</strong></p>

			US$ 200.00 for the visa.</li>
		<li>
			additionally, a processing fee of US$ 160.00 will be charged to all U.S. passport holders in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a visa to the U.S.;</li>
		<li>
			an additional absent fee of US$ 20.00 will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant;</li>
		<li>
			No cash, personal or company checks are accepted, only Post Office money order, made out to the Consulate General of Brazil.</li>

			the visa is good for multiple entries.</li>
		<li>
